In the year 2052, robots will be designed to house the memories of dead relatives. Once all the memories have been loaded and processed, certain parts of the neural network will be uploaded to the cloud, where the personality data will be analyzed and compiled back to the robots, where they will act accordingly.
They're claimed to be technically alive, but I claim they're expensive as all hell. Saved only for rich countries in the Middle East and North Africa, these neuron buckets are like luxury sports cars, and are usually bought just for the sake of owning one.
The robots will come with an on/off switch. When the robots are turned off, they'll experience nothing, and when turned back on, will claim they suddenly jumped into the future. From their perspective, they suddenly and instantaneously teleported through time and space, completely missing the entire experience of being off.
Using this information, scientists have concluded that death is peaceful and you shouldn't worry about it. As a result, suicide rates are at an all time low and birth rates are at an all time high. As if anyone cares.
Everyone either has a job to do, is sick, or addicted to strange new synthetic drugs, which have become the new national pastime. Besides the robots, everyone takes drugs. Drugs are the only thing that's fun anymore. That and roller-coasters. Virtual roller-coasters.
